NOTA BIOGRÁFICA
Cristina Carvalho has a PhD in Biotechnology (2006) from the Technical University of Lisbon (IST). In 2010, she completed a postgraduate degree in Neurosciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. Her research work has focused on Biomaterials and Materials applied to Design, Fashion Design and also Architecture, with particular interest in topics such as innovation and sustainability, community practices, health and well-being. ¶ She also has a master's degree in Biotechnology / Biochemical Engineering from IST-Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon (1999), and a degree in Textile Engineering from UBI ¿ University of Beira Interior (1993). In 1992, during her degree, she received a scholarship from the UNEFOR Program under the COMETT STUDENT PLACEMENT PROGRAMME and studied at Deutsches Textilforschungszentrum Nord-West e.V., in Krefeld / Germany. ¶ She is currently an Assistant Professor at DTAUD ¿ Department of Architecture, Urbanism and Design Technologies at FA-ULisboa. She has been teaching at FA-ULisboa since 1995, and was Director of the Master's in Fashion Design between 2008 and 2012. Since 2007 she has been teaching at FA-ULisboa on the Doctorate in Design Course. She has been teaching since 2019 in the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture in the area of Technological Innovation and New Materials, and participates in the PhD Course in Architecture in an optional course on Textile Materials Applied to Architecture. She has always taught Materials and Technologies in the area of Fashion Design in the 1st and 2nd cycles of studies. Since 2010, she has been a member of the Executive Committee and a teacher in the area of Materials and Technologies, since the 1st Edition of the Master's Course in Clothing and Textile Design, taught in Cotutela, by ESART/IPCB and FA-Lisboa.¶She is an Integrated Researcher from CIAUD ¿ Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design since 2007 and was a member of the Executive Board representing the group of Design researchers between 2010 and 2012. She was Principal Investigator (PI) of the "Biocolour" project, funded by ANI ¿ Agency National Innovation Project (SI I&DT PROJECT - BIOCOLOUR - Project no. 68924); She is a member of the International Erasmus+ project called R-Youcult: A "room" of their own-training cultural workers for facilitating rural youth culture (2021-1-DK01-KA220-ADU-000033681). She has been an External Scientific Evaluator/Reporter for ANI ¿ National Innovation Agency since 2010, in the areas of Biotechnology, Textile and Clothing Industry, Footwear, Leather and similar. She intervenes in the Evaluations of Mobilizers, R & DT and Co. projects. -Promotion and Sifide.¶ she is Co-Chair at Human Factors for Apparel and Textile Engineering since 2019 included in the AHFE-International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics. She was a member of the FA-ULisboa Scientific Council from 2007 to 2018. Lecturer at the University of Lisbon on the International PhD Course in Design and Innovation, with the general coordination of the University of Náples since the 1st Edition of the Course (2010); Participation in research projects, some funded by FCT, namely the Project: ¿Textile dyeing pollution control: Improving dyeing and wastewater treatment Technologies¿ (POCTI/EQU/32456/2000); Project: ¿Biodegradation of azo dyes in a sequencing batch reactor¿ (POCTI/32586/BIO/2000) Portugal. Scientific Advisor for six completed PhDs in the area of Design and three ongoing PhD students in the area of Design. Publication of book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and participation in Congresses and Seminars.
